Dear Collin,
Today as I was watching you play I started thinking about how big you are getting. And as I was thinking about this I started reflecting on the past.
I remember the day you were born, it was the longest day ever! Thirteen hours of labor, eight actually spent pushing. I was so exhausted by the end but the minute I saw your face I knew it was all worth it. I was in love with you from the very start. I remember the entire day that I was in labor your Daddy had the Big 12 championship playing in the background. To this day I can't watch a Big 12 game without having fond memories of the day you were born.
I remember your first night home, Mommy was so tired. But you woke up every hour. Finally at 6 a.m. I put you in bed with me and we slept four hours straight. It was then that I discovered the benefits of co-sleeping and you slept in Mommy's bed a full year before I finally started making you sleep in your own bed.
I remember all your first. The first time you rolled over, crawled, sat up, pulled up and walked. Mommy would sit there (most of the time with a camera) and encouraged you to accomplish whatever feat it was you were trying and then bawling whenever you would. It was always a bittersweet moment for me. You were always so determined, this is definitely a trait that you still have today.
I remember the nights you were so fussy and I would turn some music on or sing to you and we would dance in the kitchen, you would always calm right down. To this day you still listen to music to help you go to sleep. I remember when I would spend entire days just holding you simply because I didn't want to put you down.
So today as I sit here watching you play, thinking how big you are getting and reflecting on the past I also remember to cherish every minute I get with you in the present.
"I love you forever, I like you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be."- Robert Munsch
Love,
Mommy
